🏠 Personal
Second month of the year as been all about nursing Bernat and staying at home due to COVID restrictions. We’ve done some quick visits to nearby towns and Valencia, but most of the days we just have a walk or two around home for errands, doctor visits, buying groceries and such. The kid is doing well, it’s obviously a tiresome task, but nothing out of normal, I think.
👨💻 Professional
At this moment, being in parental leave means I’m pretty much disconnected to the everyday stuff. I still lurk email, slack, and GitHub issues when I have the time but that’s it, and mostly because there’s some paperwork I need to attend.
This is my last month on parental leave and I will be back to work by the end of the month to spend the rest of Elastic allowance two hours per day til summer or so.
❤️ Community
This month I could only attend a few talks of Elastic Community Conference; I was impressed with the great work of our team organizing the event. Apart from that, I stay in touch with the strets after women project, and hopefully we will be releasing new data soon.
📚 Reading
I got a Kindle subscription til April so I basically stopped reading The Dispossessed by Ursula K Leguin to focus into small finance books. I read the Spanish translation of Inventing Bitcoin by Yan Pritzker, and I am half through Educación Financiera avanzada partiendo de cero by Gregorio Hernández.
On the audiobooks side I haven’t listened anything this month since I focused more on podcasts. I have The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Leguin, but I want first to finish The Dispossessed. I canceled my UK Audible subscription after getting a few more audiobooks with the remaining credits. New Audible subscription will likely by with the Spanish Amazon store.
